Some "friendly advices" to enjoy your
"Wine tastins with friends"

Do you know that some professionals of wine car taste more than 100 different wines a day ?
They've got a secret : they spit the wine, even in case of good wine ! You can do as well if you want, nobody will be irritated !

A few plain advices you don' t have  to forget, for the security of most of us ...

  • First advise : taste but do not abuse !
  • Second advise : sleep at the place you taste !
  • Third advise : you may know someone who doesn't drink wine. Despite it ,invite (her, him). He (she) can make the wine tasting however. May be he (she) will discover wines better than you, thanks to the colour and the smell ... And he (she) will drives you back safer than you could !

You are warned yet.

Now you have to get glasses. Glasses are really important to manage a fine wine tasting. Choose round and tulip glasses, with stem if possible. Evitate plastic glasses or squares glasses if you can.
You've got them ? Check discreetly they don't smell the cupboard. In this case, wash it without offended the mistress ...

You can start it !

  • Poor only one third of the glass, in order to be able to make the wine turn in the glass without throughing wine toward your next friend ...
  • Now have a look to the color. Will gives you clues about the age. Strong red is for young wines, red brick color is for old wine... To appreciate color, you have to look the wine in front of a white background. Your helping sheets, by exemple !
  • Now you have to smell it. Don't drink it straitaway ...You've got time to appréciate this moment ! Smell it first. Make the glass turn to make the wine turn, instead of turning your head above a steady glass...Put your noose directly in the glass. Appreciate all aromas !
  • You are now ready to drink ! Take a mouthfull and pretend to chew it. Let it in your mouth and try to breathe throw you noose, with your mouth half opened. Be awared, stock your feelings ! Then swallow, notice the first feeling (attack, entry, fore-palate), then notice the taste, third take care of the back palate.

Wine tasting is  a travel towards your feelings, your memory...
You find out where and when you already met this smell, this taste, and think which emotions are associated to the present feeling.
Travel towards wine is like a travel threw ourselves ...
